$360 worth of 2006 Mount Burrumboot Estate Petit Verdot

The aristocratic '06 Mount Burrumboot Estate Petit Verdot was the show-stopper at the recent Hanging Rock Harvest Picnic.

Wine Lovers gave it the thumbs up and it became the best selling wine!

Tasting Notes:

"Whilst other vintages of our Mad Uncle Jack’s Petit Verdot have  been huge, brooding beasts, the ’06 Petit Verdot maintains it’s broad shoulders, but has discovered it’s sensitive side… the usual intense colour and nose of blackcurrant fruit pastilles and cassis, the tannins are firm but fine, lending the wine excellent structure.  The wine is rounded and supple on the palate, with a long and persistant finish.  An outstandingly graceful example of this variety.  Such big flavours call for big dishes, and so we like this with beef and venison, as well as our favourite, roast lamb! (Well, we are lamb producers too, you know…).

Great ageing ability – should cellar beautifully until around 2026".
